La leggenda del Drago - Ufocinque

I giorni scorsi sono stato a Stigliano, Stëgghiànë in dialetto locale, un piccolo comune di 4 025 in Basilicata che ha una lunga storia, c'era un castello che poi è franato e leggende che ancora vengono tramandate, tra cui quella del drago, sconfitto dal cavaliere che ora sfoggia sullo stemma del paese. Il murales che ho realizzato, vuol essere in continuità con quello precedente a Varallo, ovvero raccontare il luogo e il territorio. Questa volta non è una mappa ma una araldica reinterpreta, dove il soggetto sconfina nello sfondo, ispirato al paesaggio locale. Anche i colori sono dettati dal contesto ed ho cercato di integrare il più possibile il disegno nella piazza, come fosse lì da sempre.

ЧАША ИСКУПЛЕНИЯ - Kirill Vedernikov

“Lavoro finito nel cuore di una bella e piccola città italiana - Comune di Stigliano - MT . La trama dell'opera è legata al Miracolo avvenuto durante la peste del 1656 in questo luogo. Nella Chiesa di Sant’Antonio, che si trova vicino alla piazza centrale, c'è un vecchio crocifisso ligneo - creato da un frate francescano. L’epidemia di peste che ha colpito Stigliano nel 1656. Quando il dramma dei singoli e del popolo sembra raggiungere il suo apice, un crocifisso che si trova alle spalle dell’altare della chiesa si muove, questo prodigio segna la fine della pestilenza e un nuovo inizio per il popolo. Il Crocifisso immobile e tragico è il simbolo dell’uomo sconfitto dalla sofferenza e dalla morte. Nella scultura non c’è traccia di forza vitale, il corpo è abbandonato, è sconfitto dalla forza di gravità, il capo coronato di spine reclinato sulla spalla destra perché l’ultimo sguardo di Cristo è stato rivolto al “buon” ladrone, alla madre e al discepolo che egli “amava”. All’improvviso, l’evento inatteso, il capo si sposta, si reclina dall’altro lato, lo sguardo si rivolge a quelli che si ritengono esclusi dall’amore di Dio, che vivono senza speranza perché non comprendono che l’uomo-Dio è condannato ad una morte infamante. La peste è sconfitta e con essa l’incredulità di chi pensa che nulla possa cambiare. Il Cristo regna sul trono della croce: passione, morte e resurrezione.

Sul lato sinistro del mio lavoro - è raffigurato uno dei quattro cavalieri, che porta senza pietà la sua bandiera in tutto il mondo. L'immagine della peste, che possiamo ancora vedere. Sul lato destro c'è un'Immagine Femminile spiritualmente concentrata, la Crocifissione e il Calice. L'immagine è di sacrificio e redenzione. L'immagine di ciò che ha salvato la città allora.”

"I lupi mannari (pmpnor) sono degli uomini normali che la leggenda vuole nati nella notte di Natale, a mezzanotte in punto. Nelle notti di plenilunio diventano simili a lupi e terrorizzano interi paesi. Gli uomini si trasformano e diventano lupi perche' vittime di oscuri sortilegi che si possono guarire solo con uno stratagemma: pungere con uno spillo il lupo mannaro. Il sangue perduto permette all'uomo di ritornare alla normalità.”

“Ho deciso di reinterpretare la leggenda del Pmpnor, lupo mannaro, perchè da sempre mi affascinano le storie di paese. L'ho fatto utilizzando un linguaggio che risultasse comprensibile alle persone del posto, che sentissero vicino; ma nello stesso tempo ho cercato di spettacolarizzare la scena attraverso un gioco di luci e prospettive. Quello che n'è venuto fuori è un murales 3d dai toni freddi e cinematografici; quasi un frame di un thriller, ambientato negli anni 30, che trova nel lupo mannaro il suo protagonista. E' nella notte che l'opera prende vita e l'ombra del Pmpnor si staglia imponente agli occhi dell'osservatore, quasi a metterlo in guardia dal suo imminente arrivo!”

Enoch - Gods in Love

"Enoch è un personaggio biblico, padre di Matusalemme che fu a sua volta nonno di Noè. Visse in tutto 365 anni, e camminò con Dio, poi non fu più veduto, perché Iddio lo prese".

Questo enigmatico versetto ha fatto nascere la tradizione secondo cui egli sarebbe stato rapito in Cielo.

"Enoch piacque al Signore e fu rapito, esempio istruttivo per tutte le generazioni", dice infatti di lui Siracide 44, 16. Così lo si ritrova anche nel Nuovo Testamento: "Per fede Enoch fu trasportato via, in modo da non vedere la morte; e non lo si trovò più, perché Dio lo aveva portato via. Prima, infatti, di essere trasportato via, ricevette la testimonianza di essere stato gradito a Dio".

We Are Here is a project by the artist duo Anne Fehres and Luke Conroy which celebrates community and cultural heritage through food, sharing and art. For three weeks the artists lived and worked in the rural Southern Italian town of Stigliano. During this period they invited the community to share their personal recipes and the stories associated with them. These various recipes and stories were captured and are now presented as various public artworks around Stigliano.

Each of the artworks has been inspired by a documentary process whereby the local community talked about their personal recipes during the process of creating them. During this process, the artists captured photographs of the creator, the creation process, the food elements and surrounding objects. Later the artists digitally combined the multiple photographs associated with each recipe into a single photomontage composition, bringing together the diverse elements in a surreal and playful way. Each composition has been digitally printed and is presented in the public space of Stigliano at a ‘larger-than-life’ scale.

Each of the installed works is celebratory, bringing the recipe and creator from the private space of the home to the public space of the streets. Through this presentation, the local community and a broader audience is encouraged to reflect upon the recipes that hold important cultural value in this place, to find pride in local heritage and connect with each other in new ways.
