Basilicata in Bloom courses are set to commence
Involvement, promotion of a new citizenry activity and the growth of expertise are the cornerstones of the Basilicata in Bloom project, promoted and organised by the Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019 and forming part of the candidacy dossier in the scope of the Gardentopia cluster.
The second part of the project foresees an articulated training activity, divided into theoretical and practical lessons, aimed at all citizens, commencing with the winners of the Basilicata in Bloom competition with a focus on the areas in bloom.
The courses will be spread over five dates for the Municipalities of Matera and Potenza respectively, being once a week for a duration of two hours, with appointments having a theoretical and practical nature. The courses shall be led by educators from the University of Basilicata, by professional associations, landscape architects and gardeners.
Also amongst those invited to present shall be personalities at a national level.
Indeed, we invite all those interested in participating in the lesson of Elena Carmagnani, honoured at the Expo2015. From the Associazione OrtiAlti, her contribution shall concern experience with the Community Garden and will be held in Matera on Friday, 26th February from 5.00pm to 7.00pm at the Aula Sassu of the University of Basilicata and in Potenza on Saturday, 27th February from 11.00am to 1.00pm at the Aula Galilei of the University of Basilicata.
Also scheduled for Monday, 21st March from 6.00pm to 8.30pm is the lesson of architect and well-known landscape designer, Paolo Pejrone del Fai.
The objective is to provide townspeople with the tools to improve their activities in the redevelopment of green urban areas and to expand awareness of the importance of a new and positive relationship with the city. The Basilicata in Bloom project has also been recognised by the National Institute of Urban Planning (Inu), acknowledging these efforts as positive actions in Italy. It is for this reason that it shall be the guest of honour at the Biennial of Public Space to be held in Rome in 2017.
Thanks to the culture of participation, it is possible to bring about change! Matera 2019 is a good opportunity.
