The Balkan tour starts on June 29 from Novi Sad (Serbia), European Capital of Culture of 2021
HUMANA VERGOGNA is the first project among those produced in collaboration with the Lucanian creators of the cultural program of Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture.
The project has gone through a national and international research process that has opened job opportunities allowing for young artists from all over Europe to express themselves. Accompanied by public and critical acclaim, it was previously staged last March in the “Casa Circondariale” of Matera, thanks to the important collaboration with the penitentiary administration.
It is now time to leave Matera for the final outcome of the project "HUMANA VERGOGNA". Produced by # reteteatro41 (Theatre Company “Petra”, “Gommalacca Teatro”, “L'Albero” and “IAC”) and directed by Silvia Gribaudi and Matteo Maffesanti, the international debut is approaching, scheduled for 29 June in the prestigious venue of the Infant Festival of Novi Sad (Serbia) designated as the European Capital of Culture of 2021. The run of performances will continue in September at Fiat Podgorica Festival (Montenegro) and at the Mot Festival in Skopje (Northern Macedonia).
The tour was organized with the support of the Balkan festivals, the Italian Institute of Culture in Belgrade, the Italian Embassy in Skopje, and the EU Japan Fest.
Significant support for the tour comes from the Apulia Region - Department of Cultural and Tourist Industry and the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese ( Apulian Public Theater). On the basis of the EU Cohesion and Development Fund for Apulia 2014/2020, they signed a memorandum of understanding with # reteteatro41 and the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation. The signatories to the MoU aimed at supporting the programming of Apulian artistic productions and co-productions (the Mediterranean Academy of Actor of Lecce is partners of the project “the poetics of shame”) in order to consolidate their presence in international contexts as well as in globally renowned festivals.
HUMANA VERGOGNA The show is centered around POP elements and creates a direct relationship with the viewer, by means of an ironic language that combines theater and dance. It investigates the theme of shame -individual and collective, family and social- through a dramaturgical construction where the body becomes the narration and leads the viewer into a playful dimension.
“The Humana vergogna” project is the fruit of the collective work of the co-creation. It has pursued an important internationalization path reaching stages and theaters across South East Europe - underlined the cultural Manager of the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation, Ariane Bieou. - It is a well-deserved milestone for an original production, ambitious and experimental, that features international artists also involving the “Casa circondariale” of Matera.”
On 8 and 9 October the show will be repeated in Matera at the Auditorium “Gervasio”.
