Happy Open Future 2016
Dear friends of Matera-Basilicata 2019, 2015 is coming to an end and is a year that has brought us the gift of great awareness regarding the opportunities that the title of European capital of culture entails, as well as the risks and difficulties of applying the ideas contained in the candidacy dossier to everyday life.
2016 will be a crucial year for our journey. It will be the year dedicated to the so-called build-up, or the training relative to all the expertise necessary for implementing the 2019 projects.
Every good project needs great contents, but also an important relationship with the public and administrative skills that will ensure that it is duly correlated to the territorial system as well as the European one. Together, we will all have to make a huge effort, beginning with several of our wonderful experiences with the citizens that have already taken place, like Basilicata Fiorita and more recently, for the Christmas festivities, the Lumen project.
We want to thank everyone, the citizens first and foremost, the institutions, the workers in the world of information and colleagues, for all the commitment and attention lavished on Matera 2019. I also want to wish good luck to us all for the coming year and, above all, to the two next capitals.
After Mons and Pilsen, about which we will have the first information over the next few days regarding turnout and participation at the initiatives that took place in 2015, the baton will be passed to two important towns: San Sebastian and Wroclaw.
We are all invited to take a careful look at the work carried out in Spain and in Poland and to bring their experience into our daily work.
Once again, please accept our best wishes.
Happy open future everybody!
